Coming up on Monday July 30th is the last of the Edinburgh Preview shows I booked for the Old Joint Stock Theatre.
Pleasingly the last two shows were sell outs, but numbers haven’t been so high for the local acts in the run, so please do come along and support some quality local talent.
Monday July 30th
Karen Bayley – great to see Karen going from strength to strength having always been a strong performer, blessed with a lilting Brummie delivery, a knack for timing and a strong onstage presence. Her debut Edinburgh show “The more you pee, the less you cry” describes the moment when she found out she had contracted Meningitis whilst wearing a Dollywood Dolly Parton T shirt (she was staying with fellow comic Alan Carr at the time) then follows her journey from the hospital ward through the trials and tribulations of recovery and the revelation that through something negative there can (nearly) always be a positive outcome.
“A very good act “ Jasper Carrott
Okse – In 2006, Okse discovers a shoe box which triggers something in his head to become flooded with memories. Okse’s life changing experiences are brought to you with humour and feeling. He reminisces about umpteen things including growing up, his Chinese heritage and his parents. Now he wants to share these with you!” To see the show plugged somewhat unconvincingly my Okse’s Mum, go here.
The show is £8 and starts at 8pm at the Old Joint Stock Theatre, above the Old Joint Stock pub in Temple Row West, Birmingham city centre, opposite the Cathedral.

Two questions for you, Richmund –
– Any idea of stagetimes? Roughly when will this all be finished by?
– Do they let you take drinks from downstairs into the theatre there?
Ta chuck.
Hiya Russ
theres no compere, so basically the first show (Okse) runs from 8 – 9pm, then a twenty minute interval then Karen from 9.20 to 10.20.
Bearing in mind these things tend to run a few mins late.
And yes you can take drinks in as its cabaret style seating with tables.

I should be there, all being well (me being there wasn’t contingent on those two things of course, just needed to know).
