I rather like a bit of routine in my life, so long as Im able to freely ignore it when that feels appropriate.

Ideally I get to meditate and play piano in the mornings, maybe respond to some emails, then after lunch a few intensive hours at the computer followed by whatever the evening holds.

Thinking about routine tho I’m often reminded of a polar bear I saw in zoo when I was kid. This bear had a set pattern of swimming from one side of its tiny enclosure to another then rearing up on its little bit of rock and then plunging back into the pool. It was beyond repetitive and comfortably into psychotic (one reason why I dont visit zoos these days).

Yes, some routine can be productive and secure, but I guess it can also be dangerously addictive and limiting.
