This is my first gig for the Acoustic Brew guys who run a number of gigs in the Birmingham area.
This one takes place at the Atticus Bar in Bearwood which by all accounts is a smart, friendly establishment offering quite a range of live events.
Other acts include Carl Stevens who lists two of my very favourite musicians (Brian Wilson and Nick Drake) amongst his influences alongside a dubstep producer and Aereogramme – a Scottish post-rock guitar band. The resultant mix is both intriguing and atmospheric.
The Humdrum Express is the musical vehicle for Kidderminster based singer/songwriter Ian Passey who from the biography on his website has quite a long a varied songwriting career to his name. The current crop of his songwriting efforts offer a chirpy power pop style.
Completing the bill Edward Smith has only one song on his myspace page but its rather a sweetly melancholic love song.
Should be a really nice evening and its FREE in so hope to see you at Atticus from 7pm – 113/114 Three Shires Oak Road, Bearwood (Tel: 0121-429 9423).
